Nagbe calls for youth participation in 2015 MDA

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Dec.17/2013) Youth and Sports Minister, Eugene Nagbe, has stressed the need for the inclusion of youth participation in the 2015 Millennium Development Agenda (MDA).

According to Minister Nagbe, the young people are the most vulnerable in society, ranging from the lack of employment, basic social services and education.

He said: “The youth state of vulnerability must be seriously tackled to save Liberia’s future.

The Youth and Sports Minister said: “Seventy five to eighty percent of the country’s population comprises youth and as such their imputs in future decision-making cannot be overlooked, especially in meeting the Millennium Development Agenda.”

Minister Nagbe made the assertion Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the final consultation of the youth on their position on the Post 2015 Millennium Development Agenda.

The final consultation was held at the Paynesville Town Hall.

Also speaking at the consultation, UNFPA Country Representative, Ratidzai Ndohuvu, noted: “The social habit of Young people remain a major factor affecting their health and growth.”

Madam Ndohuvu named teenage pregnancy and lack of education as issues needing national government’s keen attention in preparing the youth to meet the 2015 MDGs.

She called on the youth to do away with acts that have the propensity of undermining their future.
