Liberias Justice Minister resigns

(, October 7, 2014)-Liberia’s Justice Minister and Attorney- General, Christiania Tarr, has resigned.

According to Minister Tarr, her resignation was based on lack of cooperation and marginalization in Government.

“I am no longer enjoying the confidence of the President as Minister of Justice when major security decisions are made without my input”.

Minister Tarr noted Madam Tarr said: “I cannot be Minister of Justice because there is no   commitment to the rule of law when the Ministry was told not to investigate corruption allegation involving the National Security Agency.”

According to Minister Tarr, she tendered in her resignation March 31, 3014 prior to the lifting of her suspension, but the President failed to accept her resignation.

Meanwhile, President Sirleaf has finally accepted the resignation of Justice Minister and Attorney- General of Liberia, Cllr. Christiana Tar Monday, October 6, 23014 at a meeting with the President at her Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia.
In October, 2013, Minister Tarr was suspended for granting compassionate leave to Journalist Rodney Sieh who was then charged and sent to court for libel.
