(www.elbcradio.com/Liberia/Oct. 15, 2014)-The Liberian Government has clarified widespread rumors to layoff non-essential government employees.

Information Minister, Lewis Brown, said: “The Government has absolutely made no decision to dismiss employees who were asked to remain home.”

“The Government is not considering such action at this difficult time.”

Minister Brown also said: “The Civil Service Agency (CSA) would continue exploring ways of improving the public service.”

“This is consistent with the scope of work and mandate of the CSA,” he emphasized.

The Liberian Information Minister made the statement to reporters at the Daily Ebola Briefing at the ministry in Monrovia.

It can be recalled that the Liberian Government asked non-essential staffs to stay away from job to avoid over crowdedness in work places.

According to the Government, the decision was intended to enhance the containment of the spread of the Ebola Virus in the country.
