(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Oct. 22, 2014)-The President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has pledged his government’s support to Liberia’s fight against Ebola.

A Foreign Ministry release quotes President Xi as having said: “My country and people would stand with Liberia by exerting the necessary efforts to defeat Ebola.”

The Chinese Leader gave the assurance recently when he received in audience the new Liberian Ambassador to China, Dudley Mckinley Thomas.

He also said: “The fact that President Sirleaf appointed Mr. Thomas as Liberia’s Ambassador to China was a clear indication of the confidence she reposed in him.”

President Xi assured Ambassador Thomas his government’s full cooperation in making his mission in China a success.

Earlier presenting his letters of credence, the newly assigned Liberian Ambassador conveyed thanks and appreciation to the Chinese Leader, on behalf of President Johnson-Sirleaf for China’s numerous supports to Liberia.

Ambassador Thomas named direct financial assistance as part of China’s goodwill gestures to Liberia in combating the deadly Ebola virus.
