(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Oct. 24, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has expressed happiness over the absence of new Ebola infections in Lofa County.

According to President Johnson-Sirleaf, the zero infection rate of the Ebola Virus in the county is a good development in the fight against the deadly disease.

She spoke Monday, October 20, 2014 when she toured several hospitals and health centers in the area.

The hospitals and health centers visited by the Liberian Leader include the Foya Hospital, Foya Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU), Kolahun Health Center and the Tellewoyan Hospital in Voinjama City.

The Liberian President commended the Lofa County Health Team and health workers for their sacrifices in the Ebola fight.

President Johnson-Sirleaf then assured that Government was making efforts to ensuring that health workers across Liberia receive their hazard benefits.

The Liberian Leader also said: “Health workers, recently recruited to fight the Ebola Virus, but are not on government payroll, will be captured upon the passage of the 2014/2015 fiscal budget, if they wish to work for the Government.”

“Government would give US$5,000.00 to each family of health workers who may die of Ebola infection,” she noted.

The President promised that health workers would receive the Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to enable them effectively discharge their duties without the risk of contracting the virus.

Meanwhile, Lofa County health workers have commended the Liberian Chief Executive for the assessment visit to the county.
