US stands by Liberia in Ebola fight

(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Oct. 31, 2014)-United States Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, says Liberia is not alone in the fight against the Ebola Virus.

According to Ambassador Power, the US will continue working along with Liberia to ensuring that the virus is defeated.

She spoke Tuesday, October 27, 2014 during a news conference in Monrovia.

The US Envoy named the deployment of US soldiers, construction of Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs), and the setting up of laboratories in Liberia as some of the commitments demonstrated by her government to stamp out Ebola.

Ambassador Power disclosed that the US Government, on behalf of the Liberian Government, is mobilizing efforts to put in place effective tools to combat the virus.

“These efforts are being mobilized, along with the UN and other international NGOs.”

The US Ambassador assured the Liberian Government and people that the United States will ensure the provision of necessary assistance against killer pandemic.

Also speaking at the news conference, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf thanked Madam Power for visiting Liberia to assess progress in the Ebola fight.

President Johnson-Sirleaf also commended the US Envoy for the support Liberia has received from the UN, specifically Liberia’s development programs.

The Liberian Leader said: “With all of the assistance given by the US, the Liberian Government and people have gained confidence that the disease can be defeated.”
