(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Nov. 14, 2014)-The David Jallah Committee has advanced several recommendations to the Liberian Government for consideration.

The recommendations call for stringent punishment against five operatives of the National Security Agency (NSA).

According to the Committee’s report, the five NSA operatives had arrested and detained some Korean, Sierra Leonean and Lebanese nationals in Liberia on multiple charges.

The multiple charges range from money laundering, counterfeiting, illegal arrest, conspiracy to defrauding.

The Committee also recommended that two conspirators, among the five NSA operatives, be handed over to the Justice Ministry for prosecution.

The group also proposed that the Government refunds US$247,500 that belongs to the Korean national.

The money was reportedly withdrawn from the International Bank of Liberia by the accused Korean national and taken to the City King Hotel, where he was arrested upon arrival.

President Johnson-Sirleaf has forwarded the David Jallah Committee’s report to the Justice Ministry for review and for ensuring appropriate actions, consistent with law.

The Liberian Leader also forwarded a copy of the report to the NSA to ensuring that the agency works along with the ministry for the speedy implementation of the recommendations.

The Special Presidential Committee was constituted sometime this year (2014) by President Johnson-Sirleaf to investigate the matter.

The Committee was also mandated to submit its findings and recommendations to the President for prosecution.
