(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Nov. 18, 2014)-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has launched its nation-wide civic and voter education campaign for the 2014 Special Senatorial Election.

NEC Chairman, Jerome Korkoyah, says: “The commission has also recruited 400 civic education and seven civil society organizations to carry out community outreach.”

Cllr. Korkoyah said: “30 women civil society organizations will also be deployed in the 15 counties to carry out gender-sensitive awareness.”

The NEC Boss also announced that campaign begins Thursday, November 20, 2014 and will close 24 hours before polling day. NEC has brought in 2,640,000 ballot papers Friday from Ghana.

The ballot papers will be sent to the 1780 polling precincts nation-wide on December 13. Meanwhile, the commission has released several measures to be instituted during Election Day.

The NEC pronouncement comes amidst public debate on the holding of the senatorial election, with the Liberian Senate yet to concur with the House of Representatives.
