(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Nov. 18, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has strongly warned individuals who constructed buildings and other structures blocking drainages to remove such buildings.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “Government will remove, or destroy all illegal structures that are blocking drainages.”
She said: “Owners of structures, legally constructed, will be compensated in line with the laws of Liberia.”

“The pavement of roads in Monrovia and other parts of Liberia will be based on acceptable engineering standards,” the Liberian President also said.

The Liberian Leader made the statement Monday, November 17, 2014 during a tour of various streets of Monrovia and adjacent parts.

She made the tour, along with outgoing Public Works Minister, Antoinette Weeks, and Public Works Minister-Designate, William Gyude Moore.

The President also said: “The tour was intended to acquaint the Public Works Minister-Designate with ongoing road construction projects as the dry season has already begun.”

Meanwhile, the Public Works Minister-Designate says: “If confirmed, I will begin where Former Public Works Ministers, Kofi Woods and Antoinette Weeks, stopped. I will learn from their mistakes and build on their achievements.”

Minister-Designate Moore also said: “I plan to immediately commence projects, being carried out by the Government.”
He encouraged international construction companies to return and start their works.
