(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 1, 2014)-The Election Management Body of Liberia has vowed to revoke political parties’ candidates caught in violation of the laws governing the election in the country.

The National Elections Commission’s Communications Director, Joey Kennedy, says revoking candidates’ participation in the December 16, 2014 Special Senatorial Election was in line with the new election laws.

Mr. Kennedy said: “Section 10 Point 2, 2 calls for revocation of any candidate’s participation in the Electoral process of the country for any violation of any of the Liberian election laws.”

He emphasized on the use of profane language on other candidates. The NEC Communications Director spoke Friday at the end of two regional media workshop on polling and counting procedures.

The polling and counting procedures are part of guidelines for the Special Senatorial Election in Liberia.

The NEC official also said: “NEC decides to enforce this provision of the election law, because of recent reported violent skirmishes among supporters of political actors, mainly those in Monrovia.”

Mr. Kennedy is, at the same time, encouraging political actors in the 2014 Special Senatorial Election to go about their respective campaign activities peacefully.
