(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 1, 2014)-The General Auditing Commission (GAC) has concluded audits of the County and Social Development Funds in five counties.

The reports cover funds disbursed, under fiscal years 2011/2012 and 2012/2013, to River Gee, Gbarpolu, Sinoe, Bomi and Grand Cape Mount Counties, respectively.
The County and Social Development Fund audit reports, covering the five counties, were recently forwarded to the House of Representatives.

The GAC’s audit reports come barely weeks after the National Legislature’s Public Accounts Committee recommended that President Johnson-Sirleaf reprimand a number of government officials found liable of misusing public money.

The GAC is an autonomous anti-graft government institution established to enhance accountability in Liberia.
Though the Auditor General and other senior officials of the GAC are appointed by the President of Liberia, the Commission reports directly to the National Legislature.
