Prez Sirleaf makes additional appointments in Govt

(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 3, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has made additional appointments in Government, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 3, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has made additional appointments in Government, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

An Executive Mansion press release says President Johnson-Sirleaf made the appointments Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Monrovia.

Those appointed include Jordan Solunteh, Director General of the Cabinet -Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Momo Rogers, Deputy Director General, National Commission on Higher Education –Ministry of Education.

Others appointed are Elias Shoniyin and Thomas Kaydoe, Deputy Ministers for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, respectively –Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Messrs Franz Sawyer and Andrew Paygar-Flangiah, and Pewee Reed go to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Deputy Ministers for Administration and Small Business Administration, and Assistant Minister for the Bureau of Small Business Administration, respectively.

At the Labor Ministry, Moriah Kou Yeakula, Emmett Crayton, and Marion Wreh were named Assistant Ministers for Administration, Trade Union Affairs, and Standards, respectively.

President Johnson-Sirleaf also named Edwin Sarvice as Deputy Managing Director for Operations –Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), replacing Aaron Wheagar, now retired.

The Liberian Leader also made slight changes at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), as Milton Weeks and Melisa Emeh were appointed Members of the CBL Board of Governors, replacing David Vinton and Mildred Reeves.

Allen Kromah was appointed Assistant Internal Affairs Minister for Research, Development and Planning –Ministry of Internal Affairs, while Norris Tweh was sent to the University of Liberia (UL) as Vice President for University Relations.

At the same time, the President has set up a three-member Tourism Exploratory Committee to assist in the formation of a tourism agency.

The Tourism Exploratory Committee comprises Dr. Dawn Barnes –Chairman, Barku Tubman and Jacqueline Capehart –members.
