( 11, 2014)-Students reading Mass Communication (MASSCOM) at the University of Liberia (UL) have honored the newly appointed Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Ledgerhood Rennie.

The MASSCON students told that they honored Mr. Rennie for his recent preferment to the top post at LBS.

Under the banner, “Mass Communication Students Association,” the students, said: “We believe that Mr. Rennie’s preferment was based on his passion for the Journalism profession and commitment to the development of the profession, particularly broadcasting, in Liberia.”

The President of the Association, Freeman Dorkor, told the honoree: “These professional attributes are two cardinal reasons for your appointment as the new LBS Boss.”
They then presented a certificate of congratulations to Mr. Rennie.

Student Dorkor later appealed to the LBS Director General to provide the UL MASSCOM students the opportunity to practice at the state-run Radio and TV station.

Receiving the certificate, Mr. Rennie expressed delight for the honor and lauded the students for the recognition and pledged his commitment to public service.

He later promised to always work along with the Mass Communication Department at the University of Liberia to absorb some of its students in the system.

Mr. Rennie, a BBC trained, is a Lecturer of Mass Communication at the UL and former Station Manager of the Catholic-run radio station, “Radio VERITAS” in Central Monrovia.

Prior to his recent appointment by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Mr. Rennie served the State Broadcaster as Deputy Director General for Media Services.

He replaced Mr. Daryl Ambrose Nmah, who served the entity for the past four years (since 2010)
