(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 19, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has repeated Government’s full pledge to providing more housing facilities for low income earners, including Liberia’s rural dwellers.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “The housing system was introduced in Liberia during President William R. Tolbert’s regime, because of Monrovia being overcrowded and having minimum land space.”

The Liberian leader also said: “The process was aborted, because of problems that led to the closure of the National Housing and Savings Bank.”

“The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) later came in to buttress the housing program,” she added.

The President spoke Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the certification ceremony for beneficiaries of the newly constructed housing Units in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.
President Johnson-Sirleaf paid tribute to the beneficiaries and urged other Liberians to take advantage of the housing program.

The Liberian Leader also lauded the LBDI President, John Davies, CBL Governor, Mills Jones, and the Managing Director of the National Housing Authority, Samuel Wulu, for their steadfastness in revamping the Liberia’s housing sector.
