(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 20, 2014)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has commenced distribution of Christmas gifts to hospitals, orphanages and churches across Liberia.

President Johnson-Sirleaf began the distribution Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Tobacco louses (TB) Annex in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

She commenced the exercise Friday, December 19, 2014 by presenting to inmates of the Annex ten bags of rice, 15 cartons of medical equipment, including hand gloves, alcohol and other personal protective equipment.

Making the presentation, on behalf of the Liberian Leader, the Coordinator of the Special Presidential Services,

Toe Wesseh, lauded health workers at the TB Annex for their continued commitment to serving the Liberian people.
He said: “As a tradition since she took office, the President was distributing food and other items to the citizenry.”

Receiving the items, on behalf of the TB Annex, Martha Geian, commended the President for her kind gesture.
Madam Geian, however, appealed to President Johnson-Sirleaf and the Health Ministry to include the hospital employees on the Hazard benefits intended for health workers.

She also called on the Government to fence the TB Hospital, because SHE SAID: “Some patients usually escape from the hospital without completing their treatment.”

“The hospital is currently catering to over 70 patients and that most of the workers are volunteers receiving no benefits from the Government,” Madam Geian added.
