(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Dec. 20, 2014)-Latest reports from various pooling centres indicate that some Voters have been denied the right to vote.

Our Correspondents said the voters were denied to vote, because they were attempting to use the invalid voter’s registration cards at the poll.

It was also reported that some voters were rejected by election officers because they attempted using duplicated voter’s registration cards. It is not clear whether the culprits were arrested and turned over to the National Election Commission (NEC) for further actions.

Our Correspondents said despite these occurrences, the electoral process is continuing smoothly.

Polling commenced at 8 O’clock this morning (Saturday, December 20), one hour later than the official time set for the commencement of the exercise.

Our Correspondents said: “The one hour delay resulted from the reported late arrival of the election workers and setting up of election materials at the centers.”

The National Elections Commission (NEC) operational guidelines set 8 O’clock AM and 6 O’clock PM as the official time set for the commencement and closure of polling, respectively throughout the country.

The mid-term election is intended to fill-in vacant seats in the Senate at the National Legislature.

The vacancies were created because of the expiration of a 9-year term of some Senators at the upper House.

We will continue updating our readers on the ongoing senatorial election exercise get close to the closing hour.
