(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Jan. 9, 2015)-Liberia’s representative at the CAF Confederation Cup, FC Fassell, is in camp ahead of their first leg fixture away to Horoya AFC of Guinea.

The Liberian FA Cup winners moved to camp Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Baptist Seminary on the Roberts Field Highway to begin preparations for their first international competition.

FC Fassell will face Guinean Club, Horoya AFC on the weekend of February 13-15, 2015 in the first leg preliminary of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The team has opened its training camp on the Main Campus of the Baptist Seminary on the Roberts Field Highway.

The Seminary has a playing pitch which has been used by FC Fassell as training ground for the past two seasons.
Authorities of FC Fassell told elbc sport that about 30 players are currently in camp.

FC Fassell has had no active football activities since the ban was placed on football playing in the country in early July 2014 over due to the ebola outbreak.

The club’s Vice President for Public Affairs, Paywalah Janyan, said the players are in a “bit of good shape” for the competition, as the players were doing self-training during the ban.

Mr. Janyan said: “Our players are in the right frame of mind for the game. The players are out-beat about representing the country as a team in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.”

“Getting the players prepared to operate as a full team once again is a huge challenge for us, however; we will overcome the challenge,” he said.

Commenting on the issue of finance, Mr. Janyan said the club has been prepared ever since they won the double last season.

“Money is not an issue for us because we have been prepared financially for the competition; though we need support,” said FC Fassell Vice President for Public Affairs.

FC Fassell’s decision to camp follows the lifting of the ban on football playing in the country at the weekend.

FC Fassell authorities are working out modalities to ensure that the team secures a playing pitch and a license in keeping with CAF Regulations.
