For procedural error: NEC nullifies CDCs Convention

Baysah Kollie/ Joseph T. Koon

( Jan. 21, 2015)-The National Elections Commission (NEC) says it does not recognize the recent Convention held by the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

NEC Director of Communications, Joey Kennedy, said the Commission’s decision was based on two outstanding issues yet to be resolved by the party.

Mr. Kennedy said:”One of the issues is in reference to the complaint filed by George Solo, alleging his unlawful removal as Chairman of the Party.”

“The Commission’s action is justified by the failure of the CDC to publish information in the media seven days before the holding of the recent Convention,” he emphasized.

When contacted, CDC Public Relations Officer, Archievebo Doe, said the party will meet up with the Commission’s regulations shortly.

Mr. Doe said:”The CDC has officially notified NEC about the removal of George Solo as Chairman of the Party.”

The NEC spokesman, however, said the Commission will continue to do business with individuals who were serving in their various positions in the DCD prior to the Convention.
