(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Jan.22, 2015)-The Liberian government has described former Chief Justice, Johnny Lewis, as a brilliant and long serving public servant.

In a special statement issued on behalf of Government, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, recounted the dedicated services the late Justice Lewis rendered the Government and people of Liberia.

President Sirleaf said “The former Chief Justice served with distinction as a statesman whose achievements will be remembered by the Liberian People.”

She added: “We wish to express deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the Supreme Court of Liberia and members of the Liberia Bar Association, for the death of Cllr. Lewis and take solace in the Lord.”

Former Chief Justice, Johnny Lewis, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital in Monrovia following a protracted illness.

Prior to his death, Justice Lewis served as Chief Justice of Liberia from 2006- 2013 and retired from Government because of poor health.

The Liberian astute lawyer also served as Legal Advisor in the United Nations System in other parts of the world.

Meanwhile, the body of Justice Lewis is being deposited at the Samuel Stryker Funeral Parlors in Monrovia awaiting befitting funeral protocols.
