( 26, 2015)-A children education NGO, “Porte, Liberia Child Initiatives,” has begun distributing assorted learning materials among needy children returning to school in the country.

The learning materials include book bags, copy books, pencils, rulers, among others.

Scores of school kids, from the Pipeline Academy and other nearby schools in Paynesville, benefitted from the organization’s charity.

The Regional Director of Porte Liberia Child Initiatives, Jefferson Jackque, said:  “Our initial distribution of educational materials is valued at US$1,000.”

According to him, the project is intended to help government provide the children basic support to enhance their potentials as they return to school.

Mr. Jackque made the statement Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Pipeline Academy in Neezoe Community, Paynesville following the distribution.

He said: “The implementation of the project represents the overall objective of Porte Liberia Child Initiatives to impact the lives of Liberian children through education across the country.”

“The organization’s goodwill gesture is targeting government schools, because kids attending such public schools are the most vulnerable in terms of lacking of support,” the Porte Liberia Child Initiatives Regional Director also noted.

Director Jackque further noted: “Porte Liberia Child Initiatives was not prepared to donate to the more than 150 school-going kids who showed up for the gifts, but we had to go the extra mile to reach out to all of them, because we saw the need.”

He said the organization will shortly engage the kids with other programs, including sports, to enable them focus on their personal developments as they return to school.

Some of the beneficiaries of the assorted educational items lauded Port Liberia Child Initiatives for the donation and promised to use them for the intended purpose.
