(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Jan. 30, 2015)-Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, says the Liberian Government is pursuing new strategies to address issues affecting the health and educational sectors of the country.

Minister Konneh said the breakdown in these key sectors was due to drastic decline in the Liberian economy and Ebola crisis.

He said Government will begin redirecting some of the crisis response equipment to various health facilities to help improve their capacities, while the Education Ministry will need US$30M for reopening of school.

The Liberian Finance and Development Planning Minister also said: “The interventions will help empower the two sectors as the country gradually reaches the climax of the Ebola crisis.”

“Government will develop a sector plan to ensuring that the implementation impacts the targeted sectors,” Minister Kenneh emphasized.

The Government will continue working along with partners to help stabilize the Liberian economy, though the Ebola crisis stalled development programs, he added.
