(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Feb. 5, 2015)-The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has given an initial grant of US$500,000.00 to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The grant is to train 500 youth in agriculture in four counties and the exercise is expected to begin in March, 2015.

Youth and Sports Minister, Eugene Nagbe, named the four counties to benefit from the FAO grant as Bomi, Margibi, Grand Bassa and Montserrado.

The Liberia News Agency (LINA) quotes Minister Nagbe as saying the disclosure was made Wednesday, February 5, 2015 at the Information Ministry’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.

The Ministry’s regular press briefing is often held in the Charles Gbeyon Conference Hall.

He said: “The ministry, in partnership with HELOG Academy, will conduct pre-enrollment tests for dozens of young people to learn industrial mechanics.

In a related development, Minister Nagbe said the Liberian Government will construct two youth centers in Harper, Maryland County and in Barclayville, Grand Kru County by June.

“When implemented, the centers will provide a space for young people to congregate.”

The Liberian Government already has several youth centers in other regions of Liberia.
