(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Feb. 9, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf wants small and quality civil servants in government ministries and agencies to ensure better salaries for workers.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “Pay, payroll management, performance and pension are essential for the public sector reform to enhance development in ministries and agencies of government.”

The President made the statement over the week-end when she launched the Public Sector Modernization Project at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia.

The Liberian Leader also said: “Payroll Management is a difficult thing to do in most government ministries and agencies.”

“The financial system in these ministries and agencies cannot be trusted to carry out the process, though government wants them manage their payroll,” President Johnson-Sirleaf said.

“Professionalizing and de-politicizing the public sector is the key to maintaining professional civil servants,” she emphasized.
