(elbcradio.com/Liberia/February 11, 2015)-The Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf, says the transformation of the army remains on course.

President Sirleaf said:” I will push for additional budgetary support for the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) despite the major challenges facing the army.”

Though additional training opportunities were suspended because of the Ebola crisis, Liberia’s quest for partnership will continue to develop the Armed Forces of Liberia,” the Liberian Leader said.

President Sirleaf spoke Wednesday, February 11, at program making the 58th commemoration of the Armed Forces Day held at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) in Monrovia.

She praised Liberia’s partners for their contributions toward the transformation of the AFL and called for more support, especially as the country strives toward its post-Ebola economic recovery.

The AFL Commander-In-Chief added: “Liberia must position itself to deal with the dangers and uncertainties that threaten human aspirations and promote values that bring hope and not fear.”

The Liberian Leader stressed the need for Liberia to build strong solidarity with its neighbors to ensure that their borders are not used to destabilize other states and reverse the gains made.

President Sirleaf also paid tribute to the men and women in arms for their dedicated services to the country over the years.
