Prez Sirleaf applauds Pope Francis, Vatican people

(elbcradio.com/Liberia/Feb. 12, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to Pope Francis of the Holy See and the people of the Vatican City State.

President Johnson-Sirleaf congratulated the Pope and the Vatican people on the occasion commemorating the 86th Anniversary of the founding of the Vatican.

In her message to Pope Francis, she extended warmest congratulations and best wishes to the peace-loving people of the City State.

The President sent the congratulatory message on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia.

The Liberian Leader noted: “The Catholic Church remains a strong partner to the country’s development programs, including its significant impacts on the educational sector.”

President Johnson-Sirleaf lauded the immense contributions the Catholic Church is making towards strengthening the country’s democratic institutions to promote peace and reconciliation in Liberia.

She also recalled her visit to the Vatican in April, 2014 when she assured that Liberia and the City State will continue working together.

The President emphasized: “Such collaboration will help expand and enrich the excellent relations between the two states while striving for the attainment of world peace and stability.”

“Liberia’s relations with the Holy See have spanned more than a century and a half, while the partnership continues to gain remarkable and mutually rewarding benefits for the two states, “the Liberian Leader further noted.

President Johnson-Sirleaf then wished good health for His Holiness and God’s blessings of peace and prosperity for the people of the Holy See
