UNDP commits US$2m to Liberias Social Protection Program

(, 2015)-The Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, Madam Helen Clark, has committed US $2m to Liberia’s Social Protection Program.

The UNDP Boss signed on behalf of her institution and thanked President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and people of Liberia for the level of work and effort in tackling the Ebola Virus.

Liberia’s Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Madam Julia Duncan-Cassell, signed for Government.

She spoke to journalists at a joint press conference held Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia, at the end of her four- day visit to Liberia.

Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan said: “The funds will provide support for the poverty stricken Liberians and labour constrained households in Lofa and Bong Counties and be expended to other countries”.

He thanked the UNDP family for the continuous support to Liberia’s recovery programs, especially during the outbreak of the Ebola Virus.
