Senate inducts Chairpersons, but

(elbcradio.com/Feb. 20, 2015)-Several members of the Liberian Senate have been inducted to serve on various statutory Committees in the Upper House.

Those elected include Montserrado County Senator,

Geraldine Doe-Sheriff, –Chairperson on Executive, Grand Cape Mount County Senator, Edward Dagoseh, –Chairman on Ways, Means and Finance, Lofa County Senator, George Tengbeh, –Chairman on Rules, Order and Administration, and Nimba County Senator, Thomas Grupe, –Chairman on Internal Affairs.

Others are Grand Bassa County Senator, Jonathan Kaipay, –Representative at the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU), Montserrado and Nimba County Senators, George Weah and Prince Johnson, respectively, –Representatives at the ECOWAS Parliament, and Rivercess County Senator, Dallas Gueh, –Representative at the Pan African Parliament.

The induction, held in Thursday’s Session, February 19, 2015 at the National Legislature in Monrovia, followed their election to head the various Committees.

Election for the Chairman on Judiciary and, Defense and Intelligence Committees will be held next Tuesday (February 24, 2015).

Meanwhile, on the onset of the Thursday’s electoral process, Maryland County Senator, Dan Morias, Bong County Senator, Jewel Howard Taylor, and Rivercess County Senator, Francis Paye, respectively, walked out on the exercise.

Other Senators who walked out on that august body’s leadership election also include Sinoe County Senator,

Milton Teahjay, Margibi County Senator, Oscar Cooper, and River Gee County Senator, Commany Wesseh.
Reasons for the walkout were not established up to press time.
