(elbcradio.com/Liberia/February 20, 2015)-An Official of the United Nations has extolled the Government and people of Liberia for their resilience in reducing the transmission of the Ebola Virus.

The Head of the United Nations Emergency Ebola Response (UNMEER), Ishmair Oushek Ahmed, said: “Despite Liberia’s progress toward zero infection rate, the country risks not being Ebola free when the infection rate of the virus is high in neighboring countries.”

“Complacency is the greatest enemy to the fight against the virus in the country,” Mr. Ahmed emphasized. He made the statement Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Information Ministry’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.

Mr. Ahmed said: “The primary objective of the United Nations Emergency Ebola Response is to collaborate with other countries to eradicate the menace in West Africa.”

He disclosed plans by his agency to re-enforce and re-define a new approach to eradicating the virus.
