Prez. Sirleaf orders curfew lifted, borders open

(elbcradio.com/Feb.20/2015)- President Johnson-Sirleaf has ordered the lifting of the curfew imposed nationwide. It takes effect beginning Sunday, February 22, 2015.

President Sirleaf Said: “I do also order the reopening of all the country’s main borders that we ordered closed during the Ebola outbreak”.

According to an Executive Mansion’s release issued in Monrovia Friday, the Liberians Leader’s decision is based on the advice of the National Security Council of Liberia.

The nationwide curfew was  among others were imposed as measures taken by the Liberian Government  to contain the further spread of the deadly Ebola virus disease and ensure national security.

The Ministry of Health also have been requested to ensure the adoption and implementation of health protocols that will help prevents the importation of the virus through the borders crossing points.

The joint national security personnel assigned at various borders posts have been mandated to work closely with health authorities to as well ensure adherence to the health protocols and safety at all times.
