Govt begins payments to Ebola victims

(elbcradio.com/Mar. 18, 2015)-The Liberian Government says it will begin releasing payment of death benefits to medical workers who died of Ebola in the country.

The exercise will take place at the Project Finance Management Unit at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
Under the scheme, which begins Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Monrovia,  will provide $US 5,000  to each deceased beneficiary. 

A release quotes authorities of the Finance and Development Planning Ministry as saying:” Payments to beneficiaries would be contingent upon the presentation of death certificates.”
 

“They are to also present letters of administration through the Health Ministry as another important requirement,” theFinance and Development Planning officials noted.
 

Government said the payments will be done in checks to be issued to the beneficiaries.
However, beneficiaries must agree for a check to be issued in one person’s name when multiple beneficiariesare entitled to a single payment. 

The funds for this national initiative were provided by the World Bank an approved by the Liberian government under its Emergency Ebola Response Project (EERP).
