(elbcradio.com/Mar. 24, 2015)-Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, wants the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) develop a virtue, and skill-projected curriculum for students.

Minister Ngafuan named teamwork, research, creative and ethical leadership skills as some good qualities required to prepare productive youths in any society.

He said: “Academic excellence alone is not sufficient if African societies are to produce youths capable of performing excellently on the job and in the larger society.”

“There is a need to prepare students to make them effectively cope with challenges in their respective societies,” the Liberian Foreign Minister noted.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, Minister Ngafuan made these remarks Monday in Lagos, Nigeria, when he served as Guest Speaker at the 20th National Annual Lecture of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Minister Ngafuan emphasized:” WAEC and school authorities must incorporate in their curricula and testing system, subjects that promote the cultivation of skills and virtues into students.”

The West African Examinations Council is charged with the oversight to administer public exams to Liberian students as a prerequisite to seeking higher education in Liberia.
