Gov't drops prices of basic commodities

(elbcradio.com/April 2, 2015)-Government says it has reduced the prices of some basic commodities in the country.

This latest decision affects the prices of petroleum, rice, transportation, among others.

Commerce Minister, Axel Addy, said:” The current prices of petroleum, rice and transportation have been reduced by one United States Dollar.”

Minister Addy spoke Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at a news conference in Monrovia. He said the move is in fulfillment of Government’s effort in restoring basic necessities to its citizenry.

“This initiative will be carried out on a monthly basis to ensure a stable price of various commodities on the Liberian market,” the Commerce Minister said.

Prior to this pronouncement by Government, gasoline pump price was 265, fuel, 270, while a bag of 50kg rice was being sold at $35.00 United States Dollars, respectively.
