VP Boakai calls for unity, delegates vote Christian State

(elbcradio.com/April 3, 2015)-Vice President, Joseph Boakai, has described the recommendations of the Liberian people as a sign of unity.

Vice President Boakai urged Liberians to remain united to foster national peace, reconciliation and democracy.

He said:” The views and contributions of Liberians have yielded the level of success that will lead Liberia toward remaking the Constitution.”

 Vice Resident Boakai spoke Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the end pf the Constitutional Review Conference  in Gbarnga, Bong County. Meanwhile, delegates of the Constitution Review Conference in Gbarnga, Bong County, have voted to declare Liberia as a Christian State.

Despite protest from some members of the Muslim religion, more than sixty percent of the delegates overwhelmingly voted to turn Liberia into a Christian State.

Our reporter said the delegates also voted on several other propositions for possible consideration in a National Referendum. He said:” The views and contributions of Liberians have yielded the level of success that will lead Liberia forward in remaking the constitution.”

Consistent with Constitutional provisions, the propositions agreed upon at the just- ended Constitution Review Conference, will be forwarded to the National Legislature.

It will set a platform for the conduct of a National Referendum for possible amendments to the Liberian Constitution.
