(elbcradio.com/April 10, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says the inauguration of a new rice mail facility is a significant improvement in the country’s agriculture sector.

The Liberian leader said:” The project demonstrates Liberians’ preparedness to reduce the importation of rice; into the country.  Rice is the staple food for Liberia.

She said Government and partners will remain supportive of such initiative to boost the country’s agriculture sector.
“I will not be satisfied until every Liberian joins the effort of transforming the agriculture sector,” President Sirleaf noted.

The Liberian Chief Executive spoke Thursday at the inauguration of the first industrial rice processing facility, known as Fabrar Liberia Incorporated, in Kakata, Margibi County.

Fabrar is a Liberian-owned agriculture firm, with financial and technical support from the U,S. Government through USAID Food and Enterprise Development Project.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Liberia, Debora Malac, has expressed her government’s willingness to continue partnering with Liberia to develop its agriculture sector.

Ambassador Malac said the United States is greatly interested in helping Liberia becomes self-sufficient in food production.
