(elbcradio.com/April 15, 2015)-Information Minister, Lewis Brown, has rubbished media claims that President Sirleaf is condoning alleged corruption in the reported misuse of the Ebola fund.

Minister Brown said:” Contrary to these unfair media reports, the Government is committed to fighting corruption.”

The Information Minister was reacting to media reports suggesting that President Sirleaf was condoning the alleged corruption reflected in the recent GAC Audit Report.

Minister Brown frowned on media houses for deliberately maligning Liberia’s good governance record under the leadership of President Sirleaf.

“Such negative reportage by the media is unpatriotic and only intended to hurt the country and its citizens who deserve better,” he emphasized.

Minister Brown spoke Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the regular press briefing of the Information Ministry in Monrovia.

Recently, Government requested the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct an audit on the National Ebola Trust Fund for transparency and accountability.

The GAC is clothed with the statutory mandate to conduct audits for all functionaries of Government in keeping with its policy of transparency and accountability.
