(elbcradio.com/Aprr. 17, 2015)- The Liberian government says it will not condone acts of lawlessness in the country.

Justice Minister, Benedict Sannoh, said: “Government will not relent in dealing with any individual bent on disrupting the current peace.”

“While it is true every citizen has the right to speak about issues affecting them, people should learn to use peaceful approach,” Minister Sannoh said.

He vowed that Government will arrest and prosecute individuals who threaten peace and stability in the country.
Minister Sannoh gave the warning Thursday, April 16, 2015 in reaction to violent protest by some angry motorcyclists in Paynesville.

The protesting motorcyclists took to the streets after one person believed to be one of their members was allegedly killed by a Police Officer.

Minister Sannoh said: “Investigations are on-going into the death of three motorcyclists within a week, and that the perpetrators will be brought to Justice.

At the same time, Government has announced an indefinite suspension on the movement of motorcycles in some parts of Monrovia and its environs.

Under this latest restriction, motorcycles are now barred from plying the routes from ELWA Junction to Red-light, Red-light to Mount Barclay and Red-light to Double Bridge, respectively.

Making the disclosure, Justice Minister Cllr. Benedict Sannoh said: “The action is intended to allow government conduct a full scale investigation into the death of three motorcyclists in recent times.

Sometime last year, Government instituted a traffic regulation, banning motorcyclists from plying the major streets in Monrovia and its environs.

In just a matter of months, the motorcyclists again started plying the major streets in violation of the traffic regulation.

Despite these unhealthy developments, a major challenge for Government is to ensure that law enforcement is enhanced and effective in the governance process of the country.
