(elbcradio.com/Apr. 24, 2015)-The World Health Organization (WHO) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Liberian Government in efforts to rebuild the country’s health system.

WHO Regional Director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti, says the UN agency will walk tirelessly with the Government in re-establishing a resilient health system to provide basic health services to every citizen.

Dr. Moeti is visiting Liberia as part of tour of the three worst-affected Ebola countries.

She praised President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the Liberian people for their determination to combat the virus.

The WHO Regional Director for Africa made the remarks Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at a dinner in her honor at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia.

Speaking earlier, Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, expressed the Government’s appreciation for Madam Moeti’s visit and thanked her for WHO’s continued support to the country.

Minister Ngafuan also congratulated Dr. Moeti for her preferment as the first female WHO Regional Director for Africa.

Addressing the gathering, out-going Health Minister, Walter Gwenegale, welcomed Dr. Moeti to Liberia and assured her of a fruitful stay in the country.
