Liberian Red Cross calls for caution amidst declaration

LINA

(elbcradio.com/May 12, 2015)-The Red Cross is urging the Liberian citizenry and residents to exercise caution as the country is officially declared Ebola free.

Red Cross-Liberia Secretary General, Fayiah Tamba, said the group welcomes the news, and, however, noted: “Challenges remain in the recovery process.”

Mr. Tamba also said the humanitarian organization encouraged Liberians to remain vigilant and continue to practice safety measures at all times.

He further noted that a lot of work still needs to be done to support families and the country, having recovered from the Ebola outbreak.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross has pledged its support to Liberia in building a strong healthcare system to cope with future epidemics.

The Red Cross joined partner organizations Saturday, May 9, 2015 to celebrate the decision by WHO to declare Liberia as an Ebola-free nation.
