GOL/EU sign US$50-m state building contract

(elbcradio.com/May, 13, 2015)-The Liberian Government has signed a US$50-million state building contract with the European Union (EU).

According to a release, the latest State Building Contract is part of the EU’s cooperation program with Liberia. Finance & Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, signed the contract Monday, May 11, 2015 on behalf of the Liberian Government.

The release said the program is aimed at providing funds to the national budget, with focus on critical health services during and after the Ebola crisis.

It will also lead to building justice and security services in anticipation of UNMIL)'s drawdown and of improving the public financial management system. UNMIL is the acronym for the United Nations Mission in Liberia.

The release further quotes the EU Head of Delegation to Liberia, Tina Intelmann, as having said: “The project is the first of a wider program worth over US$300,000.00.

The Liberia-EU Multi-Year Program was signed in Brussels, in March, during the International Ebola Recovery Conference.
