Works Ministry recruits road maintenance teams for Nimba

(elbcradio.com/May 14, 2015)-The Public Works Ministry has begun recruiting, training, and assigning local residents to maintain major roads in Nimba County.

Public Works resident engineer, Lahaison Warati lsaid: “The recruits are technicians with minimum skills in technical works.”

Mr. Warati also said the recruits include masons, carpenters, steel benders and metal workers, trained to preserve major highways in Liberia.

He told LINA: “The recruitment exercise is expected to continue in phases until the teams are independent.”

The Public Works resident engineer also noted that the Rural Road Maintenance Program is aimed at getting community residents involved with government’s development initiatives.

The Rural Road Maintenance Program is organized by the Liberian Government, in collaboration with the Swedish International Development Agency.
