(elbcradio.com/May 15, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has congratulated Great Britain on the occasion marking the re-election of David Cameron as Prime Minister.

In her congratulatory message, President Johnson-Sirleaf said Prime Minister Cameron further demonstrates the trust and confidence of the people of the United Kingdom in his visionary leadership.

A Foreign Affairs Ministry quotes the Liberian Leader as saying: “More than a century, the people of Liberia and Great Britain continue to enjoy historic and friendly ties and have developed keen interest in expanding cordial relations.”

Liberia remains grateful to Great Britain’s assistance, particularly targeting the infrastructure and health sectors,” the Liberian President also noted.

She, however, hoped that as Prime Minister Cameron assumes his role, she desires that the bond of friendship and cooperation, happily subsisting between Liberia and Great Britain, would be further deepened and strengthened.

At the same time, President Johnson-Sirleaf has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Kingdom of Norway on the occasion commemorating the country 201st independence Day celebration.

A Foreign Ministry release quotes Madam Johnson-Sirleaf as saying: “Liberian-Norwegian partnership is grounded, dating back to 1863, when the two countries signed the Treaty of Friendship and Navigation.

The Treaty’s signing set the basis for both nations to engage in mutual ventures rewarding to their two peoples.

She emphasized that the strong bond of friendship between the two nations was not only heightened by the completion of a Forest Agreement in 2014 to protect Liberia’s forest, but by the significant contribution to the fight against Ebola.

The Liberian Leader then expressed commitment to upholding human dignity, press freedom, and the protection of the rain forest and wildlife to continue uniting both countries’ relations to develop from strength-to-strength.
