(elbcradio.com/May 25, 2015)-The 2015 Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank Group is taking place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The meeting runs from 25th to 29th May, under the theme, “Africa and the New Global Landscape.”
The Bank Group’s 8th Presidential election and the commemoration of its 50th Anniversary are expected to top the agenda.

A dispatch says the gathering will review the Bank’s 2014 operations, its 2015 development funding portfolio, and challenges confronting the African region.
The challenges will include climate change, infrastructure, private sector and governance.

The African Development Bank is Africa’s premier development finance institution, established in 1964.
The ADB’s mandate is to mobilize resources for the economic and social development of its 54 regional member countries by promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

In a related development, the Head of the African Development Bank in Liberia says the Bank has made significant progress towards regional integration.

Madam Margaret Kilo said the Bank’s regional integration initiative is captured in a plan that emphasizes infrastructure development, agriculture, capacity building, among others.

Madam Kilo told elbcradio.com that Liberia is already benefiting from the plan.
She also said: “The first phase covers the construction of the Fish Town to Harper Road, funded by the Bank.”

The Head of the African Development Bank in Liberia further noted that an agreement has already been reached for the construction of the Cavalla River Bridge to link Liberia to Cote d’Ivoire.

“The ADB is also interested in connecting Liberia to neighboring Guinea,” Madam Kilo added.
