Death toll increases to two hundred in Accra petrol station fire

 (www.elbcradio.com/Liberia)-Latest report from Accra, Ghana indicates that the death toll in bothe the flooding and the  petrol station  fire in Accra, has increased to at least two hundred. 


The Ghanaian Leader, John Dramani Mahama , in a speech delivered  spoke  of the raising number of casualties.   

President Mahama has therefore   decleared a three-day  national mourning of the nation describing the fire situation as a major disaster to befall Ghana.

The Ghanaian Leader earlier visited the burnt-out petrol station and has appealed for calm as the authorities were trying  to cope with the aftermath of the fire and heavy rain.

The Ghana Fire Service Department said the fire started as people in the city were trying to cope with two days of heavy rain that left many homeless and without power.

According to report monitored,  the flooding  which hampered the rescue efforts, has already claimed the lives of about two hundred lives. There are fears that the death toll from the fire could rise as the search for bodies continues.
