(elbcradio.com/June 8, 2015)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says electricity is important for Liberia's growth, economic revitalization and reconstruction drive.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said the potential for doing business and experiencing growth in the country is tied to the availability of electricity to enhance the economy and production.

A dispatch from Munich, Germany says the Liberian Leader spoke Saturday, June 6, 2015 when she visited the VOITH hydro manufacturing facilities.

The President had gone to the VOITH hydro manufacturing facilities to see firsthand turbines and other parts being built for the Mount Coffee hydro.

Monrovia alone, with a population of over one million people, is surviving on 22 megawatts of power.

President Johnson-Sirleaf described such enormous situation in the city as grossly inadequate to address the level of investment Liberia now experiences since civil crises.

Meanwhile, the Liberian President urged the VOITH training institute in Germany to consider building Liberians capacity to effectively manage the hydro and other power sources, being built across the country.

For his part, the President and Chief Executive Officer of VOITH Holding, reaffirmed his company's determination to work along with the Liberian Government to make sure the Mount Coffee hydro is revived.

Dr. Hubert Lienhard described energy as an essential component for any industrial sector, adding: “It is a fundamental pre-requisite for investments and improving the standard of its people.”

Dr. Lienhard said: “The first of the three turbines is ready to be sent to Liberia in December, while the remaining two will be sent early next year for installation.
