(elbcradio.com/June 8, 2015)-A one-day football jamboree, named and styled, the Randolph McClain’s Football Tournament is expected to kicks off in Liberia’s second most popular commercial city, Paynesville.

The one-day football jamboree is scheduled to take place at the famous Alpha Old-timer’s Sports Stadium in Zubah Town.

According to Alpha’s Vice President for Operations (VPO), the association decided to honor the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) Boss, Randolph McClain, because of his contribution to football and society.
Michael Tarplah told elbconline Sports that the Dr. McClain has done so much not only to Alpha, but to society in general.

The former St. Joseph Warriors forward said the tournament will feature only the four-member teams of Alpha, including Angels, Force, Dragon and Legend.

He noted that the show-down will be played on a knock-out basis and that the honoree has provided a giant-size trophy to be given the winner immediately at the close of the jamboree.

Besides the giant-size trophy, Mr. Tarplah said certificates will be awarded the best player, best goalkeeper, highest scorer, amongst others.

Commenting further on the tournament, the VPO said the four teams have already started training ahead of the event.
Several personalities, including Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh, Defense Minister, Brownie Samukai, Cllr. Theophilus Gould, among others are expected to grace the occasion.

“All of those personalities are members of Alpha. George Weah (now Senator of Montserrado County) is among several former Lone Star players, expected to feature for the respective participating teams,” he also noted.

Mr. Tarplah said Senator Weah will lead the Legend team while Dr. McClain will captain Force as Angel faces Dragon and Force and Legends will sort things out in the second encounter.
