(elbcradio.com/June 15, 2015)-Liberia Senior National Football Team, Lone Star, resumed its participation in the qualifying rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Lone Star fell to the Hawks of Togo 2-1 in their first meeting in the Togolese Capital Lome Sunday, June 15, 2015.

Liberia’s recently assembled national team took the lead in the first half after controlling much of the possessions, but in the second half fatigue seems to have robbed the Lone Star of such control.

The Togolese took advantage of the situation by scoring twice in the second half to take all three points.

Former LPRC Oilers striker, William Jebo, now at Rio Ave in Portugal, scored Liberia’s only goal in the first half on his debut appearance for his country.
The game was part of match day-one qualifying activities for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Liberia is in Group-A also comprising Tunisia, who defeated Djibouti 8-1 Friday to send out a strong message to the other group members.

Lone Star’s next match in the Nations Cup Qualifier comes in September against Tunisia in Monrovia.
