(elbcradio.com/June 18, 2015)-The Liberia National Football team, Lone Star, will begin its qualifying rounds in the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final against Guinea in Rwanda.

The Liberia/Guinea match will be played June 21, 2015 in Bamako, the Malian Capital. The game was moved to Bamako, because Guinea is still under ban from playing international football at home as a result of the ebola virus.

More than 20 local Liberian players have been undergoing training for more than a month now preparing for the fixture against Guinea.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has been solely shouldering the responsibilities of the team’s training.
The local-based national team is expected to leave the country soon for the Bamako fixture.

The 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying rounds is scheduled to kick off this weekend across the continent.

Sixteen teams are competing in the tournament’s final to be held between January 16 and February 7.
The opening matches follow last weekend’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifying activities that also took place across the continent.

For home-based footballers who did not have the chance to play for their respective countries in last week-end’s qualifiers, will now have the opportunity to showcase their talents during the up-coming weekend games involving all of Africa’s national teams.

The tournament, in its fourth year, features only players in National Associations’ domestic leagues. Thomas Kojo and other national coaches have been working along with the players to ensure victory in the engagement with the Guinea National team in Bamako.Players making the trip include Fassell players, Sampson Giddings, Aloysius Simujlah and Eddie Wulue.

Others are, Nathaniel Sherman, Alpha James,  Alvin McCornel, Van Dame Harmon,  Prince Jetoh, Hilton Varney,  Lamine Jabateh and Prince Saydee all of BYC.

Others include Sholee ‘Deco’ Quiah of Invincible Eleven, Sunnyboy Dolo of Nimba United, Leon Power of Watanga FC and James Soto Roberts of LPRC Oilers.

The rest of the players are Abraham Barshall, Mohammed Varney of LISCR FC, Murphy Oscar Dolley of Monrovia Club Breweries and Stanley Whitfield of Jubilee FC.

We will bring you the full listing of Liberia’s delegation members to Bamako in our subsequent publication.
