(elbcradio.com/June 25, 2015)-Liberia won the Under-18 boys’ category   of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 3×3 Tour inaugural edition.

The competition was staged at the National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria.

Seven countries in FIBA Africa Zone 3, including Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast, Togo, Senegal, Liberia and Nigeria, participated in the June 18, 2015 Tour.
Liberia beat Ivory Coast 14-12, while Togo beat Nigeria 11-8 in the third-place match.

Nigeria dominated the competition by winning the senior men, senior women and the Under-18 girls’ categories.
The President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, Sam Ahmedu, said he was happy with the competition’s standard.

He said, the rain tried to disrupt the games, but it was a matter of luck that a plan B helped in the successful completion of the tournament.

The achievement comes amidst the lack of basketball activities in Liberia, as a result of the Ebola virus outbreak and the long-standing leadership dispute confronting the Liberia Basketball Association.
