Grd. Cape Mount hosts Regional women electoral seminar

(elbcradio.com/June 26, 2015)-A two-day regional seminar on women participation in the electoral process has opened in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County.

The Seminar, organized by the National Elections Commission (NEC), got underway Thursday, June 26, 2015 in Robertsport.

It is being held on the theme, “Regional Seminar on Women Political Participation in electoral processes: best practices, lessons learned challenges and strategies for moving forward.”

Over 100 participants were drawn from Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Lofa and Gbarpolu counties.

In remarks during the opening ceremony, NEC Co-chairman, Sarah Toe, thanked the citizens of Grand Cape Mount County for the high turnout during the Voter Roll Update (VRU), conducted early 2015.

Counselor Toe said a total of 61,114 voters, including 32,925 males and 28,189 females, were registered during the exercise.

Earlier, NEC Grand Cape Mount County election magistrate, David Armah, said prior to the commencement of the VRU process, his office conducted awareness campaigns in cities, towns and villages across the county.
