MRU Summit concludes Ebola Plan in Conakry

(elbcradio.com/June 29, 2015)-An Extraordinary Session of the Mano River Union (MRU) Heads of State and Government has ended in neighboring Guinea.

The MRU Summit, attended by Presidents Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leonean and Alpha Conde of Guinea, ended Sunday, June 28, 2015 in the Guinean Capital, Conakry.

According to Presidential Press Secretary, Jerelimick Piah, the Conakry meeting focused on energy, infrastructure, security, Ebola eradication, among others.

Mr. Piah made the statement Monday, June 29, 2015 via state radio, ELBC, in Paynesville.

He said the MRU Leaders specifically deliberated on interventions that could be carried out during the course of the next two years.

The Presidential Press Secretary, La Cote D’Ivoire’s President, Allassan Quatara, was deputized by the country’s Foreign Minister, Charles Koffi Diby.

Mr. Piah further noted that the plan is not different from the already existing MRU Regional Plan for the eradication of Ebola and for affected countries’ recovery.-
